I am so excited to show you my affordable kitchen makeover! This kitchen has quickly become one of my favorite projects that I’ve have completed to date. I finished this project about 2 weeks ago and have been working to get my website ready to publish so that I can post this beauty! I do plan on making one more update in the kitchen soon but it is so beautiful already that I didn’t want to wait any longer.

The Before

Everything was in its original state when we bought the house (with the exception of the 4 layers of wallpaper on the soffit above the cabinets). The kitchen isn’t huge, but to us- coming from a 700 square foot rental, the kitchen was everything we needed and there was A TON of counter space compared to what we had before.

When we moved into the house, one of the first things we did was rip out the carpet and have vinyl plank flooring installed in the entire upper level. The green vinyl was in good shape but c’mon, it was hideous! The cabinets above the microwave had that yellow-y brown plastic that reminded me of dirty pond water. The sink was sage green to match the flooring and the countertops also had green flakes in them. Want to guess my least favorite color? GREEN! It had to go.

The After

If you know me, you know that I do things on a budget. From the backsplash peel and stick, butcher block contact paper on the countertops, to the diy painted gold hardware, you’d never guess that I spent less than $300 in the kitchen (excluding the flooring).

The cabinets are painted with satin finish Sherwin Williams paint from Lowes in the color White Duck and the walls are painted in satin finish Sherwin Williams in the color Pure White. We had put on super affordable black hardware from Home Depot and I painted them gold with Rub ‘N Buff Gold Leaf paint.
